The Celebration String Quartet are all busy, full-time freelance players and specialist instrumental teachers based in the Midlands.
Suzie
Walden – Quartet Organiser and ‘Cellist.
After leaving the Royal College of Music in London, Suzie freelanced with
major British orchestras before taking up a 2 year contract with the Hong
Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. Here, she experienced a variety of professional
music-making from Opera and Ballet to String Quartet concerts for radio
and studio work recording TV jingles.
This was followed by a 4 year full time contract in the orchestra of Opera North, based in Leeds. After moving to the Midlands, she now lives in Worcestershire and teaches at Malvern College and other private schools in the area as well as playing in 2 traditional string quartets, the Bergonzi based in Stratford and the Voces Intimae who play regular concerts at Leicester University.
Suzie’s parents were both light music performers so it was a natural progression for her to set up the Celebration String Quartet to play background music for special occasions. For musicians, this aspect of our work can be very rewarding as it provides a very valuable service and changes the atmosphere of the occasion without being the focus of attention. It also puts the players in close contact with the public, which we don’t achieve on a concert platform.
If the regular players are unavailable, or indisposed, Suzie has a wide knowledge of musicians in the Midlands and of other string quartets so you can be assured that the standard will remain high at all times.
Although light classical music is always a popular choice, we have a wide selection of melodies and arrangements to suit all tastes and are happy to offer help and advice.

Civil Wedding Ceremonies
For the civil wedding ceremony we have had much experience and are willing
to offer advice if you feel unsure as to your choice of music. We will try
to accomodate special requests if at all possible.
Church Ceremonies
I am happy to arrange hymns for the quartet so we can lead the hymn singing.
This is an option really worth your consideration, as it sounds wonderful
in the church acoustic.
We have arrangements of hymns such as 'Lord of the Dance' and 'Amazing Grace' and are able to arrange your favourites as long as prior notice is given.
Special arrangements
We have arranged 'The Acrobat' for an amateur trombone player who
wanted to play it with the string quartet at his mother’s 70th birthday
party. Also, we recently accompanied 2 singers who were friends of the bride.
They chose Delibes - 'Flower Duet' which was perfect.
